Wind-scored granite, guanaco silhouettes, and a W-route trimmed for photographers who hate rushing a tripod.
We stitch refugios and a single wilderness camp with private cook. Wind is a character, not an enemy — we time exposed sections with forecast windows. You’ll learn to read lenticular caps as narrative, not warning lights.

Begin your day early , Start with a scenic drive from Manali to Jobra, the base camp for the Hampta Pass trek. This 2-hour journey is filled with stunning views, hairpin bends, and refreshing mountain air. Upon reaching Jobra (9,800 ft), you’ll be welcomed and briefed about the upcoming trek to Chika (10,100 ft). The trek to Chika is short (2 km) and takes around 3 hours, making it a perfect and gentle start to the journey. The trail passes through lush greenery with birch, pine, and maple trees, set against the picturesque Himalayan backdrop. Along the way, you’ll see the Rani River flowing through meadows, with grazing cattle and sheep enhancing the serene landscape. We will stop for lunch and set up camp by the riverside. The evening includes snacks, fun group activities, and a delicious dinner before settling in for an overnight stay by the river.
Wake up to a beautiful sunrise, with vibrant hues lighting up the landscape. After breakfast, begin your trek towards Balu Ka Ghera, a journey that is relatively easy yet incredibly rewarding in terms of scenic beauty. Although the campsite isn’t visible from Chika, you’ll get a sense of the direction as the trek begins. The trail takes around 5–6 hours and passes through vibrant rhododendron forests, silver birch, and other alpine vegetation. Along the way, you’ll witness the stunning Himalayan arc known as the White Range, with the majestic Dhauladhar peaks standing tall in the distance. At one point, you’ll come across a beautiful stream waterfall on your left—an ideal spot to rest and refill your water. Continuing ahead, you will reach Balu Ka Ghera, a vast stretch of flat mountain terrain dotted with patches of snow. This is the route you will cross the next day to move closer to your destination. Upon arrival, a hot lunch will be served, and you can spend the rest of the day relaxing and soaking in the peaceful surroundings of Himachal. Dinner will be provided, followed by an overnight stay at the campsite.
Today is filled with thrill and adventure as you make your way towards the Hampta Pass. The lush green meadows now give way to barren flatlands, marking the dramatic transition from Kullu to the rugged landscapes of Lahaul and Spiti. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging, with rocky paths replacing the gentle slopes of previous days. Along the way, a beautiful river flows through the terrain, adding charm to the otherwise stark surroundings. To reach the Hampta Pass, you will climb two steep ridges separated by a small plateau, with the final 20–30 minutes demanding patience and determination. The temperature at the top can drop significantly, so proper layering and a trekking stick are essential. Reaching the summit brings a sense of achievement and euphoria, rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views of the Spiti and Lahaul valleys, dotted with remote villages and snow-capped Himalayan peaks. After spending some time soaking in the views near Hampta village, a hot lunch is served to help you regain energy. The trek then descends towards Siagoru, where the path gradually becomes easier after the steep sections. By evening, you reach the Siagoru base camp after an exhausting 8-hour trek. Relax, enjoy evening snacks and tea, followed by dinner and an overnight stay. Tomorrow promises a visual treat as you head towards the stunning Chandratal Lake.
Start your day early after breakfast with a relatively easy downhill trek through the beautiful Hampta Valley. Throughout the trail, you’ll be accompanied by stunning views of the majestic Pir Panjal range. As you descend and cross over into Spiti, you eventually reach Chhatru, a remote and sparsely populated region situated at an altitude of 11,100 feet. Chhatru holds significance as it connects three major adventure routes in Himachal—Hampta Pass, Spiti, and Rohtang Pass—and offers a refreshing patch of greenery after the long barren stretches. Here, you’ll halt for a delicious lunch before continuing your journey by road. From Chhatru, enjoy a scenic drive of around 30 km to reach the breathtaking Chandratal Lake. Known for its crescent moon shape, this high-altitude lake is a true gem of Himachal, with its crystal-clear blue waters creating a mesmerizing sight. While the water is extremely cold, swimming is allowed for those seeking an adventurous experience. You can also relax by the lake, admire the colorful prayer flags, explore wishing stones, and soak in the serene beauty of the Himalayas reflected in the water. This marks the final night of your Hampta Pass trek. Spend time under the star-lit sky, embracing the peaceful surroundings. Make sure to keep yourself warm, as temperatures drop significantly at night.
We begin once again, with a lovely meal and some reflection upon the lovely time we have spent trekking on our trek to Hampta Pass. We set off on out drive early this morning, because the journey that follows is time-consuming. We take the Rohtang Pass to get back to Manali and we go through the various flavours of the Kullu valley, as well as the Lahaul and Spiti valley as we do so. Once we reach Manali, trekkers disperse homewards according to their travel plans. For this time, our wholesome journey together ends here.
